About This Item
Introducing the SparkFun RFM69 Breakout 915MHz! This compact and versatile radio module is designed to make your wireless communication projects a breeze. The RFM69HCW module operates on the unlicensed ISM radio band, specifically the 915MHz frequency. It allows for easy transmission at up to 100mW and up to 300kbps.
You have the flexibility to adjust the transmit power and data rate to suit your application. Maximize the range by increasing transmit power and reducing data rate, or conserve battery power for short-range sensor networks by decreasing both. With a power output of up to 100mW and simple wire antennas, the RFM69 breakout can easily transmit messages from one side of a large office building to the other, even through numerous internal walls. In open air, you can reach impressive distances of 500 meters or more.
In fact, some enthusiasts have successfully transmitted data from space to the ground using similar parts and more complex antennas and modulation schemes. The RFM69HCW communicates with a host microcontroller using SPI (Serial Peripheral Interface), making it compatible with various Arduino libraries. It supports up to 256 networks with 255 nodes per network, ensuring scalability for your projects. Additionally, it features AES encryption to keep your data secure, and it can transmit data packets up to 66 bytes in length.
