    répondre: Just push the cap onto the end of the wire. No need to strip as there are barbs in the cap that make the connection. Also, I found that you cannot reuse them so I bought extras.
  • question: Is this approved for exterior use?

    répondre: It can be used on the exterior, but it cannot be IN water. I live in a travel trailer and used it to keep my exterior water line from freezing, for which it works quite well. I dipped mine in liquid electrical tape just to be safe.
  • question: What is the purpose of this cap, besides protecting the end of cable? Can we use electrical tape instead to cover the end?

    répondre: You want to keep the connection dry. You could use electrical tape I guess. But if the end gets wet someone could get a nasty shock. Or it could short and cause a fire. Not using the cap supplied by the manufacturer opens one up to some liability issues. The cap does come with the hard wire or cord kit and need not be purchased separately.
